: This is a little off topic but I hope someone can give me advice. I have had atrial fib and mitral valve prolapse for several years. I am trying to obtain health insurance but all companies have refused coverage because of this. Does anyone have any suggestions of a company I might check with for coverage? I'm 58 yrs. old., work every day (self-employed), good health (other than the mentioned conditions), non-smoker, and walk 2 miles daily, but NO HEALTH COVERAGE. Any suggestions?
Hi. Until five years ago, I qas also self employed. At thattime all I was diagnosed with was a heart murmer, but getting insurance was very expensive, if I could get it at all. One way I found was to join an organization that offered insurance to it's members. We owned a restaurant, and were able to get insurance through the local restaurant association. When unsurance is offered to a group, some states have laws that say they can't deny any one person in the group, they have to take everyone. Eventually I went to work for a large chain, and am able to get very good insurance at decent prices. They have paid for a for me, including a pacemaker implant. Good luck, Sandy
