: I'm a 38 y/o female with MVP, cardiomyopathy, and last week learned I have V-Fib as well. I've had several heart related deaths at young ages in my family and it's very scary. My only option appears to be an ICD. If anyone can tell me anything about this surgery and the results, please do. What is the shock from the ICD like? Was the surgery a 'bad one'?
: I can't do anything that I love to do anymore and it's extremely depressing. Are there any support groups online? Thanks to you all in advance.

Hello, my name is john, and i had a icd put in me on july 10, of this year. After having 6 heart attacks on the medivac helicoptor, my doctors decided on a triple bypass which i did have. Then to my surprise, it was learned i needed the icd for irregular v-tach. by the way i am a male 47 and never had heart problems or a family history of such. Well i hope this will relieve your worries a bit,but having the icd, is a blessing if you go into v-fib without it, you might die. But the icd will correct this situation, and it also gives your doctor all info on your heart like a ongoing ekg. The operation lasted about a hour, and my fears of v-fib are gone. Its 8/22 and i am already riding my bike again and the drugs you will take are only blood thinners>temporarily! If you have v-fib and want to rid the depression i suggest you go with the icd. By the way its very small and nuclear powered, no battery changes! Within 1 month i am back to good health. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. and good luck,
