: How many palpitations per day is too many? I hate these horrible things and get around 10 times per day that I feel it either beat really hard or skip or add a beat. I have been for all testing and all is negative. I was just wondering how many other people out there get these things as often as me??????? Any input would be appreciated. I myself was dealing with severe palpitations. SOmetimes over 50 per day, and some days even more. I finally went to a cardiologist at ST. Joseph here in Towson, MD, and he found the problem almost right away. The main valve in my heart does not close. Basically, the 2 "flaps" never meet, so there is always a "backwash" sensation. I had gone to another doctor for 25 years, and all I heard from him was that there was nothing wrong, or it was simply stress. But since I have changed dr.s, I have been on medication called "covera". I take it once a day at bedtime, and no longer have the palpitations.
