: December 1999 I had a heart attack which resulted in a stent being inserted in the artery. Prior to this I had been having cramps in my left calf. Since this procedure I now have cramps in both calves when I walk with any speed. This is reducing my exercising to getting my heart better. It causes a problem when walking or biking. I have been told the cramps may result in blood clotting. "I'll know it when it happens" is the common statement. Does anyone been taken with a blood clot from cramps or knows anyone who has and what can I expect --- severe pain ? where, when, how just what??????
REPLY i was looking at a website about hyperglycaemia and diabetes One of the ways to manage mild cases of hyperglycaemiaand hypoglycaemia was to scrub body gently with a brush TOWARDS the heart .I tend to rub up and down with a scrubbing brushin any direction but now will always use the brush towards the heart HOWEVER thatmight be a dangerous treatment for anyone who has had clots I am mentioning the treatment here in case there is a link between diabetes or sugar sensitivity and silent ischaemia
