: If anyone has a pacemaker, will you explain how this surgery is done? Local or general anesthesia? Was the recovery a long process? ANY information will be sincerely appreciated.
Hi-- I had my pacemaker implanted 3 years ago for complete heart block. The procedure was done with a local and some meds that didn't put me out, but just relaxed me and made me woozy. It doesn't take long at all. Easily less than an hour, and it wasn't painful really. I stayed one night in the hospital because of the heart block, but then I was home and at my daughter's soccer game. I went back to work two days later, and just had restrictions regardiing use of my arms for a couple of weeks. It was amazingly simple, and amazingly effective! Good luck-- Sandy
