: Hi

: My 9 year old was waiting with me to go into the movies he suddenly looked startled and told me that his heart was going boom, boom and then it went fluttery and then boom, boom again. This sensation lasted a few seconds - he has never had this happen before and I will monitor him. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? He wasn't running around beforehand, he had just been doing the shopping and standing. I would be grateful of any comments.

: Thanks in advance
: Sarah

Sarah,
Has your son seen a Cardiologist to check his heart by ECG/EKG?
Its worth looking into, although it may be nothing to worry about, I would be having his heart checked to make sure.
My daughter use to have similar feelings just before she would faint, this went on for almost 3 years before we found it was her heart .
She now has a pacemaker and is doing well, she is also 9 yrs old.
It may not be heart related with your son, but at least if you have him checked you can be sure all is well.
Best wishes.
