: It has been documented that I have atrial fibrillation. My doctor wants to put me on either Betapace or Rythmol to correct this condition. As I understand it, the initial doseage of these drugs requires a 48 hour stay in the hospital for monitoring as they can potentially can have a life threatening effect on the heart. Does anyone have any experience with taking these drugs, know the side effects, or know of any other alternative to correct the AF???

I have an arrhythmia and have been in serious afib for about 15 yrs,I have been thru 3 pacemakers so far and countless meds, have you had any electrophysiology studies done? any catherizations?,ask your doctor about that,I also take coumadin and will for the rest of my life,we need that to control clotting to prevent strokes.I also take lanoxin, coreg, zestril for my heart and am now currently in heart failure, and will need a transplant.Afib is dangerous and needs to be kept under control. There are a zillion meds out there, you just have to find the right one for you.
