: Dear Wendy: Fear Not!!!!!This too shall pass. You are suffering from what a lot us do, called PAC's (premature atrial contractions, originating in the upper chamber of the heart) & PVC's (premature ventricular contractions, originating in the lower chamber of the heart). You can have them in both chambers. These can both be benign, however, very frustrating. Some arrthymias in the ventrium can be serious, HOWEVER, when associated with a serious heart condition. I'm sure the cardiologist will set your mind at ease. I, have both PAC's & PVC's & have had such for 40 some yrs. I take a beta blocker which helps somewhat but does not control them totally. I have irregular beats daily, some days are worse than others. I wish you well & try not to dwell on these when they occur, relax as much as possible & let us know how you come out at the Cardiologist. Good Luck Jacki
Dear Wendy and Jacki: I have been diagnosed with pvc's also. I started having them at age 42 and now 6 years later i still have them. my cardiologist says they are benign and there is nothing medically wrong, however, i wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy-because it scares me to death even after 6 years. it is somewhat a consolation that they are benign, however, they are so frustrating because you never know what brings them on. i take paxil and prempro since i am going through menopause. this helps most of the time but at the moment i have been having them alot. i tried the beta blocker atenonal (sp)however it made me feel worse. does anyone have any good suggestions besides not worry. jackie r.
