: : I have had an irregular heartbeat for 4/5 years. my cardiologist has rulled out heart disease--says they are benign PVC's. Since I am 48, i assumed menopause may be causing it. My cardiologist ruled out thyroid
: : problems, caffiene doesn't make them worse or better. i have tried the vitamin, mineral route. the only thing that helps is taking 20mg of Paxil. i tried to take a beta blocker, it only made me feel depressed, not in control and the heartbeats did not go away. does anyone have any other remedies to try. I wouldn't put this on my worst enemy. no one understands how frustrating this is if they have not experienced it. it is a problem you have no control over. I am relieved to know there are many people that have this because for a long time i felt "different" because I did not know of anyone that experienced this arrythmia problem. i would like to hear from others and how they deal with it. thanks, jacki from texas: I do not have PVC's myself, but I do heart support work.
: The 3 primary things you can do to help prevent PVC's are as follows:
: 1. Eliminate caffeine (regular coffee, tea, chocolate, cold remedies are examples of things that contain caffeine.
: 2. Limit or avoid alcoholic beverages.
: 3. Try to eliminate as much stress in your life as possible. If needed, hospitals have stress management courses from time to time at a nominal fee.
: You can also look up PVC (Premature Ventricular Contractions) under "Heart & Stroke A-Z Guide" on the web site of The American Heart Assn. at http://www.americanheart.org.
: By the way, my wife has them.
KEN: Thank you for your advice. i will look into the american heart web site. jacki
