I am a 40 yr old male not overweight or unfit. My blood pressure is 130/80 and occassionaly 140/90.I have a cholestrol of 220 mildly high triglycerides and a heart disese risk ratio of 4.3. I smoke 4-5 cigs a day and drink 3-4 drinks (whisky, rum etc)my normal pulse is 74 but after drinking it goes to 90. The problem is that when I sleep at night on my left side I hear my heart beat to the extent that it disturbs. Few weeks back I felt that I was missing a heart beat. when I took my pulse I could clearly feel a beat miss and I could feel it too.Now it does not happen. I got an ecg and an echo - 2d done. Both were perfectly normal. My doctor says nothing is wrong, but I don't think hearing my heartbeat is normal -- any advise???
