: when i was 15 yrs old in 1963, i was hospitalized for 28 days with hepetitis.i don't know which one i had and
: the hospital records only say hepetitis.the doctor has since deceased as well as both of my parents.i really
: have no way of finding out which one i had. this has presented a problem with me finding employment in any
: health care or food related jobs.i only remember that i ran very high temps, and they told me that i was delerious
: for about 15 days of my hospital stay.is there a blood test that i can take that would still show up what kind of hepetitis
: that i had and is it possible to get it again.i read that once you have it you carry it for life. is this true

You can have tests for hepatitis. See your doctor for details.

Tests for antibodies will show whether you have ever been exposed to hepatitis and antibodies developed in your body as a result.
Some people do have the antibodies (but no disease) for life, and others clear the antibodies in time.

Hepatitis A and B are not known to "flare up " later in life. This is unknown with hepatitis C.

Have those tests for peace of mind, if for no other reason.
