: My mother has Hep C and is now having problems with her lungs. The lungs are full of scar tissue. The doctors have done biopsies and have scoped her lungs but are not sure what is causing it. They thought it was fibrosis but can not find any evidence of it. Could the hep C be causing this and is there anything that can be done to keep it at bay?

Dear Tammy,

Tell her doctors to investigate for hepatopulmonary syndrome. It is HCV related. UCLA has done some work on this and they feel it is an underdiagnosed condition.
Also, feel free to have them contact us at info@hcop.org if they cannot find information on it. We will find it for them.

I hope this helps,

thanbey
