: does hcv break down rapidly outside the body like hiv?
: i have acute hcv and sometimes messy nosebleeds.how contagious will that blood be if i don't get it cleaned up immediatly?
You need to pay very close attention to cleaning up your blood. The virus can live outsdie the body for a prolongued period of time. Transmission can occur if it comes into contact with someone else's blood (they have a cut or sore on their skin)
Household bleach (undiluted) is effective IF it is left on the surface for a period of time (I recommend five or more minutes, then rinse). Wash clothes or cloths in HOT water with bleach and leave it in the long wash cycle.
The risk of transmission is, nevertheless, somewhat remote. But there is no good reason to increase the risk by not taking appropriate precautions.
I hope this helps,
