Hi,
I have read this exchange, and just want to say that from my own experience, having low-thyroid (my liver doc tells me every Hep C case he has is hypothyroid), that it is IMPERATIVE to learn management of disease symptoms, and NO, thanbey did not tell me this.

I decided no disease controls my life (God does).

Being afraid of the virus is extremely taxing, builds up bad chemicals in the body and uses up thyroid to balance them. I was debilitated by the disease, have refused interferon, still have the high enzymes, but have recovered from symptoms a great deal...by building my immune system, RESTING when too tired, never compromising my liver with drugs, alcohol or anything else, and I don't use any herbs, either.

I did insist on thyroid treatment, and that is when I began to recover! See about.com/thyroid for many archived research and interview articles.
I believe the hep C thyroid needs supported by replacement thyroid. Check this out and see waht you think, relating what you read to your own symptoms.
I do supplement with B complex, E, selenium, and A
all which are needed to assimilate the thyroid med.

In no way do I suggest my answer is anyone else's. Check it out and be your own healthcare advocate. I had to.
