You can shcok your doctor further with this news. We have been going to AASLD, sanctioned by AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Disease) for three years!
We were the first non doctors to attend, and we have funded other patient leaders to attend as well. This year, for the first time, we are funding other dciplines to attend with us. One of those is a neurologist and another a naturopath (that ought to raise her/his blood pressure a little!).
So, your doctor needs to look a bit closer this year. He is in for a few surprises.
Teresa, I am very pleased to hear you are attending the conference. In an earlier post I left for Lynne I said I was surprised and puzzled that my Dr. did not recognize this organization, (HCOP), as a legitimate source for HCV information and advice. He spoke of how he was attending a liver decease conference next week in Dallas and it was for Doctors only. Well he is in for a big surprise because you and your medical staff from this organization will be there to represent the rapidly growing population of people who have tested positive for HCV and are now under treatment. Upon your return I would once again like to engage in conversation about my Doctor's opinions and choices for me concerning treatment and cure possibilities.
: I for one believe you and your team are and will succeed in creating health policies that include testing for HCV at routine physicals and surgical procedures. We may never find a way to repair the damage one suffers from virus but I truely believe we will find a cure and eliminate this from our society.
: Thanks for your wonderful outreach programs...........
: : I am not going to be available to respond to messages from Today, Friday October 20 through November 2.
: : I will try to check in, but cannot promise. I will be at the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease in Dallas, TX and associated meetings.
: : While I am away, and at any time really, go to our webpage and click on "favorite links." Between the posts below and this resource, you should be able to find an answer to the most frequently asked questions. We also have a fact page on the site.
: : When I return, I hope that there will be good news to share from the conference.
: : Best wishes to all,
