My husband is scheduled to have his liver biopsy next Monday. We have proabably been living in denial since his dx last July. He feels and looks great and his initial blood work was "good"-- or so his doctor said. He is really nervous about the procedure itself and of course, about the results. Our questions are: Is this a painful procedure and does the patient usually receive any kind of sedative?; will he be able to return to work the next day--he works in a steel mill driving a forklift?; how long does it uaually take to get the results?; if the doc recommends treatment, is it always the best option? I know that my husband does not handle any type of discomfort well, he becomes cranky and VERY irritable and I've read that tx sometimes intensifies these traits. And although usually he's usually a happy-go-lucky guy, if something really bothers him he gets really down so I'm wondering about the tx causing depression. His doc asked if he had a tendency to get depressed and normally he doesn't, but then he has never been really sick or incapacitated in any way. Sorry for being so wordy, but we're both a little bit stressed right now. Thanks for your help Blessings--South
