: : : thanur case sounds just about like mine. What is your genotype (i bet it is 1b because it is most resistent to the combo or any tx--i have it). I started at 2million and was on the combo. Checked at 3 months and it went down over 50%. Checked at 6 months and i was at 233,000. The doctor told me that I was basically classified as a "nonresponder" so there was nothing else he could do for me. I said "that is IT???? I have no other options". He then relented and said--if I want to he could increase the dose (interferon from 3MU to 5 MU and the rebetron from 600mg to 1200mg. I took the chance as I feel the medical community really does not know enough about hep C. I have been on the higher dose for 4 months and found out the other day I am undetectable. Saw the doctor--he said that is good and tio continue on the higher dose but that he still cannot promise anything as far as a SUSTAINED response as studies show that when you respond to undetectable in the 1st 3 months your chances of sustained response are very high. So, the real test is when i go off the treatment. Let me know what genotype you have and lets keep in touch about this as our cases sound alike. I felt the same as you sound----viral load was slowly decreasing--so why wait to the 6 month marker to take me off if he knew by 3 months (with not having gone to undetectable at that time. That did not make sense to me. Let me know.
: Thanks for responding. I am a 1A genotype.-tha's all i know now., sharon.
