: Of all the Alcohol and Hep C articles that I have read, none have stated specificaly that alcohol increases liver damage along with Hep C. I am not a heavy drinker but can someone tell me about how many would be safe to take per day or are there any up to date articles on this subject. I usually consume 4 or 5 beers ocassionaly. Response: There is no safe amount of alcohol for those with HCV. It is like pouring gasoline on a fire for those with HCv to drink alcohol (including as an ingredient in foods). Non-alcoholic beer is NOT non-alcoholic. The same is true for smoking cigarettes (or smoking anything, for that matter). Watch your intake of over the counter medications also. I hope this helps. thanbey www.hcop.org
