: : Hi, I'm new here, My husband has hcv 1a. been on combo treatment for 21/2 months. trying to get SSI was denided, now we must appeal, has anyone else done this?

: Dear kc,

:
: What is the basis of your claim? SSI does not grant disabilty unless there are serious physical evidences of advanced liver disease. The diagnosis itself is not sufficient.

: SSI does deny almost every first claim. You must appeal and pursue the claim.

: If your husband is a Vietnam Era Veteran or a Vietnam Veteran, you may also have a claim with the VA.

: For more detailed information contact info@hcop.org.

: I hope this helps.

Thanks, this sort of helps. Gary is not a Veteran,he is a construction worker mostly conceret and the combo is just kicking his bottom. so he has no income, the meds are making it unalbe for him to work. we just think
ssi should be able to help just for awhile. we understand it a hard thing to get.
