I have had "cold sore" outbreaks from the time I was about 5 years old. I've tried the rx cream but it just tastes horrible and doesn't really speed up the recovery any. My docters wife swears they make hers heal faster so maybe it's just me. I've tried almost everything: salt, prescriptions from the dermatologist, over the counter gels etc. even one time tried dousing them with peroxide every day. The only thing that seems to work, for me anyway, is just leaving them alone. I try not to get them wet in the shower and they seem to heal/scab and go away faster that way. Good luck.
