: : I HAVE HERPES AND OFTEN HAVE INTERNAL OUT-BREAKS WITHIN MY NERVOUS SYSTEM. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF HERPES IN SOME WAY DETERIORATES YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM?
I don't know if it actually affects your nervous system, but according to the literature my doctor gave me about herpes..."A herpes virus that is dormant (or latent) resides in the infected tissue around the lips (either genital or oral) or in the spinal nerves." Further down in the same leaflet (under 'symptoms') it says: "some women will feel pain down the legs as well, because the herpes virus lives in the spinal portion of the nerves that innervate both the genitals and the inner thighs." Now, none of this says anything about causing a deterioration to the nervous system, but it does sound like it lives in the nerves. Because herpes is such an enigma to most doctors, even though I would suggest you talk to your doctor, you probably won't get any answers. Find a good clinic in your area, or a gyn or doctor who specializes in STD's that you can discuss this with. Hopefully someone will be able to give you some more complete information.
Good luck...and please let us know if you find anything out.
