This is for Scoobydooby, I have tried the Valtrex and the ointment also, it do not really do the job. My outbreaks normally last for 5-7 days either way and I do not think they just go away because I use those things, if anything it seems to me that it prolong the outbreak. I need to know what types of vitamins you use.: : : Hi Guys,
: : : I just visited my doctor the other day...She originally diagnosed me with herpes about a year and a half ago. I had a very bad primary outbreak (a genital outbreak attributed to HSV 1) and now I get mild symptoms on a monthly basis. The symptoms are basically a slight burning sensation on my genitals and upper lip. The lip symptoms came a few months after the initial genital outbreak - I figured I probably got infected in this area through oral sex with my partner who also had herpes.)
: : : Anyway, during this visit my doctor gave me something to think about...suppressive therapy with Valtrex (1 tablet per day) for a period of 6 months. She said that this could pretty well erradicate all symptoms of herpes.
: : : My question is: does anyone here have experience with suppressive therapy of this kind? If so, I'd love to hear from you.
: : : Thanks and take care,
: : : Michelle
: : Suppressive therapy is a great way to avoid an outbreak...but I have never used Valtrex. I actually have a rather pain in the ass but completely effective natural suppressive therapy regemine that is terrific....however, I have to take a lot of vitamins daily which can become rather expensive. It works great, and if I feel an outbreak coming on, it wipes it out entirely. I was a big fan of doctor prescribed medication, but it wasn't working well for me...so my husband recommended treating it naturally, and it's worked wonders. Feel free to e-mail me or ask me here for details.
: Your symptoms sound alot like mine. I've been on valtrex suppressive therapy for about 9 months now. I cut a 500mg pill in half and take it with my lunch. It works great. If symptoms act up I take a whole 500 mg pill. I've had 1 outbreaks (because of being out partyin') and it helps to suppresses those nasty symptoms. I say go for it if your symptoms bother you. But on the other hand, it sucks to need to take a pill everyday. Try recurrent therapy and only take them when you feel an outbreak beginning. Also, generic forms of antivirals are less expensive, see if one of those works for you...
