: :Thanks Fd..... The Valtrex for a extended length of time who knows what the results are ...
: At least these are a natural substance and the body can deal with them.
: Have You ever thought of checking out Aromatherapy Oils ?
: After taking all these things you still have breakouts.?.I will self test some of these products and see what would be good for me... Thanks ever so much for the info and I will go back and check out your previous reading .

>Actually, when I maintain the regimine (i.e., if I actually manage to remember to take my meds lol...I tend to slack about it) I don't get outbreaks. So it works for me. Again, YMMV.

: : Hi Fd.....Would you share with us what program your Homeopathic put you on ... I would be very interested to know. As I take Bees Pollen and it seems to help keep it under control something to do with the amino acids in it.
: : : Shingles is also a type of Herpes and I believe it is type 3. and it is also infectous....
: : : I totally agree with you as well about the health clinic .. I think they are great ..
: : : I didn't know that I should get Hepititus B shots and they help get me up to date with all my shots.

: : I answered this question a while back, so I'm just going to copy and paste my answer in (since, in typical me style, it was long winded. laughs). It was in response to a daily suppressive therapy question (if you want to go look down the list for better context it might make better sense). Prefacing everything with: this works for me, but your mileage may vary.

: : My gyn recommended l-lysine as well, along with buffered C and zinc, all of which I take regularly. In addition, when I feel an outbreak coming on, my herbalist/homeopathic husband and my gyn (also more attune to herbal remedies than medical ones) recommended that I take 12 odorless garlic pills the days the ache start and the next day...and usually by then the pain is gone and I don't have an outbreak.

: : Daily now I take a lot of vitamins/herbs that I think honestly prevent my outbreaks...but it's a LOT, which can be not only expensive but kind of a pain. However, it works...so I do it. I take l-lysine, zinc and C like always, odorless garlic (daily recommended dosage on the bottle, only more if I feel that tugging pain indicative of an outbreak for me), echinacea (which I take both in pill form and in tincture form...tincture being the liquid exctract), vitamin A, and acidophilus to keep the whole yeasty beasty thing in check. That takes care of the herpes suppression...but I also take pycnogenol (kind of like a hyper form of C) and grapeseed extract, both of which work together for a healthier immune system...and not necessary for basic suppression. It just helps keep my body happier.

: : When I'm having pain, or when an outbreak feels imminent, I take more garlic as I said, more lysine, and the tinctures (liquid extracts) of Kava Kava, St. Johns Wart (those are both for pain relief) and echinacea. It usually knocks out all symptoms of an outbreak in less than 24 hours.

: : Hope this helps. If you want more details (har har, like I didn't babble enough!) just let me know. I can also have my hubby post more detailed info about specific herbs if you like. He did a LOT of reading up on the herpes virus and herbal treatments for it before setting me up on the regimine I'm on now...and I think he took all of the good info he found and threw out the weird, useless info.

: : After reading all this, I'm wondering if half a valtrex pill daily might just be easier. :)
