: hi i was diagnosed with herpes simplex on on my genitalia area but so far i haven't had any recurrences...even after or before my period...it's been a month now and i keep reading people making comments about getting the recurrences AT LEAST twice every month...can anyone give me some hope and explain this to me?? am i one of the lucky people who'll never get it again ??
You may be one of those lucky people that never get another outbreak...but you may not. Just because you've been diagnosed does not mean there is any particular pattern to when you get outbreaks thereafter. I was diagnosed in November of 99, and I didn't have another true outbreak until August (or so) of 2000. I went through periods of extreme stress, bad eating habits and every other thing that are triggers of an outbreak and nothing. When I had my second outbreak, I was feeling good, exercising, eating right, and practically stress free. So who knows. All of those things help though, so definitely try to follow "doctor's orders". My good friend who also has herpes had a 3 year period between her first diagnosed outbreak and her next reccurance, and she hasn't had one since then (and it's been about two years).
I have never really heard of a correlation between menstrual cycle and herpes outbreaks...Magie seems to be the resident good advice and information giver, any input on that one Magie?
