: From what ive read so far, i have most of the symtoms of a yeast infection. severe Itching, redness, swelling, thick white discharge, but no visible blisters, for 2 or 3 weeks. I had brief unpretected sex 3 or four months ago, and havent had anything unusual or any irritation till recently. I have never had a yeast infection so am not sure about whats happening to me. im wondering wear the itching from a yeast infection can be located or spread, (not just as far as the lips) and if herpes is ever assosiated with these symtoms, especially the discharge.

Actually, it sounds like you have a pretty typical yeast infection. Herpes rarely presents itself with itching, swelling over a larger area, or discharge. All of those things sound just like yeast, which is easily treatable. If you've never had a yeast infection before (and it sounds like you haven't), see your doc for treatment. He/she will most likely treat you with a 3 or 7 day cream insert, or possibly with the new Diflucan (sp?) one dose pill. (I prefer the cream just because it works better for me and helps with the itching almost immediately, but the pill is MUCH easier.)

What he/she won't tell you is that while you are taking your treatment (no matter which one you get), make sure to eat a cup or two of yogurt a day. The active cultures in yogurt help keep the healthy bacteria balance in your uterus (which yeast treatments tend to kill off along with the bad bacteria...and that can lead to another infection). Honestly, it really does help.

Good luck!
