: Herpes is an ancient affliction. Autopsies of egyptian mummies reveal eveidence believed to be the remnants of herpes. The bible mentions afflictions which some have interpreted as herpes. There are many historical reports of herpes, whether or not it was called by the name by which we now know it. There is no doubt, however, that in recent decades, the prevalence of herpes has dramatically increased, both for herpes 1 (cold sores, fever blisters, canker sores) &, in particular, for herpes 2 (genital herpes). Estimates are that 90% of the population carries the herpes 1 virus, whether or not there has ever been a breakout. If you will make a few inquiries , you will not believe the number of persons you will find who either have a current "cold sore" breakout, or have had a recent one. For fun, try it. But don't call it herpes (many people don't know that cold sores are herpes)! You will not find many reports of herpes 2, however, because such is our deepest, darkest secret. Yet, herpes 2, for the last decade or more, has been the #1 sexually transmitted disease. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) places the incidence of herpes 2 at about 1 person in 6, or approximately 40,000,000 people in the U.S. Genital herpes was relatively uncommon until the late 1960's. Nothwithstanding the relatively recent prevalence of herpes, it is no longer just an "epidemic". It is now pandemic! WORLDWIDE. This pandemic, which shows no signs of diminishing, is the result of society's new found sexual freedom which germinated in World War II & bloomed in the 60's. The "rest of the story" is that the bloom never died & it does not appear that it will do so. There are a 1/2 million new cases every year. A currently circulating "fact sheet" says "more people have herpes than Fords". SO, DON'T FEEL LONESOME. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE TO EVER CONTRACT THIS MALADY. THEY ARE ALL AROUND YOU, IF YOU ONLY KNEW WHO THEY WERE. But, neither despair. There is hope. But little of the hope is from the medical establishment. Rather, the most effective relief is from the "alternative" sector. (See post 96% EFFECTIVE REMEDY!!!)
