Recently one of my very best friends confided in me that she contracted genital herpes as a result of a rape. Of course I was extremely sympathetic and want to do all I can to help her deal with that. She asked me if I was "freaked out" by that and I said, no way. I love her and want to be her friend no matter what. But as we have continued conversations about the subject, she also confided in me that her former roommate contracted it as well. I am hoping that I am being overly paranoid about this, but I have found myself thinking excessively about this. Is there any chance of a person contracting genital herpes from someone they would never have any sexual contact with? I feel terrible that I am even feeling this way, but I find myself obsessed with worrying. Thanks for any help!
