: Hello, looking for some good recipes to cook for my husband who has been diagnosed with high blood pressure. He loves salt and when doctor told him to cut this out he feels he can no longer enjoy eating the things he really likes. Having trouble getting some good recipes to take the place of what he likes

Even if your husband is not salt sensitive, salt helps to retain body fluids and water, and as a result, this can increase blood pressure.

Here is a tip I learned from a registered dietitian. Substitute pure lemon juice from fresh lemons for salt. If lemons are on sale, put the pure lemon juice in ice trays, freeze it, then melt it when you need more fresh lemon juice.

With foods that are labeled, try foods that have between 450 to 500 mgs of sodium. The very low salt foods usually taste terrible, and I feel they are not worth the effort.

Stay away from pickles. These are high in salt.

Good luck.

Ken
