: : My sister has fluctuating high blood pressure. Some days her blood pressure drop to 100 over 80 and the next day her blood pressure is 230 over 180. No she is not dead and has not had a stroke. The doctor has compeleted a series of renal and heart test and they tell her that her test are okay-whatever that means. I really worry about my sister because she is only 53 and weighs about 135lbs. She has also had thyroid test and they cannot determine why her blood pressure fluctuates the way it does. SHe is on three blood pressure medication and patch. Please help me find out what is wrong with her blood pressure before she has a stroke or a heart attack.

Hi Janice,

Hope you get this message. Even though I may be young but not a doctor, I'll share with you what I think may help with your knowledge of your sister's high blood pressure.

First of all, your sister's chances of having a heart attack or stroke because of her hp now are rare. Over time it can do damage which leads to increased risks for heart disease. It sounds like she is fairly healthy and the doctors have checked her heart I assume? I would recommend that she routinely have her blood pressure checked and monitored before getting too concerned.

There could be other factors involved in her increase in blood pressure. Did she recently encounter a stressful period or the loss of a loved one? Anxiety and built up stress can be a factor. Even if she says she feels fine an is not stressed, anything built up or stress overtime can promote this. She should visit her doctor or see a specialist often to keep track of it. It's a serious matter but watching her diet and monitoring her readings 1x week is a must. I hope I helped out.
