: : then it will drop down to 184/100.
: : Its your blood pressure at home that is important.

: : take my bp and it would read 135/90 on the left arm, then the right arm would read 150/112. I would wait 10 minutes and get a completely different reading.

: : That is normal - you're probably stressing about what the next reading is going to be!
: : What is wierd when I come back from a brisk half hour walk my bp is usually
: : : 135/104 lower than when I am sitting LOL.

: : That is normal - after exercise your BP will be lower.

: : I keep telling him that when I go to the office it will always rise higher and higher because of his attitude towards my high blood pressure, he is always doom and gloom. Then increases a dose or adds another pill.
: : : I really don't think he will ever get my bottom reading down to the required 80.

: : Change of doc????

: My doctor calls it "white coat induced hbp" It means that the bp goes high when a doctor or another in a white coat is taking it due to the stress. It seems your doctor generates a lot of stress in your case. Also, we have tried home blood pressure machines and have found that they read different all the time. Take it once at the same time or times every day and write it down. You will have a ball park figure. I am told that there is a different reading from left to right arm. Relax more. Meditation helps. Good luck.

BP changes from minute to minute normally as it is one of the things regulated by the sympathetis nervous system. I have a large sized are and IF the nurse or Dr is inattentive enough to use the standard womans cuff on me my BP reads WAY OUT THERE. Before I get too alarmed I always check to be sure they have the large cuff. At home machines come with a generic larger sized cuff in most cases so you don't read high. NEXT time you go to the Dr take your machine and test at the same time with it to be sure it's reading correctly or at least agrees with his.You BP is high. What sort of meds are you on?
