Hi,

Thanks for your reponses. I have been taking my blood pressure at the Grocery store. It has been varying from 150 over 98 to 165 over 101 to 139 over 95. A co-worker gave me a wrist monitor machine. My blood pressure seems to really be low at night (123 over 76). I have a doctor's appt. next week. I going to start taking yoga for relaxation. I was taking Echinea for while. I will ask my doctor is this elevates your blood pressure! I hear a glass of red wine with dinner helps as well. I think what concerns me the most is my dialostic remains around 90 all the time. People keep telling me that's the "killer". I am convinced my job has been elevating my B/P. I will just keep taking vitamin E, & postassium and cross my fingers this condition will go away soon!!

Hi Maria:
: : First of all Don't Panic!!! I am only 30 years old, but was diagnosed with high bp 2 years ago. It is not the end of the world. First of all, have you checked your bp since you went to the doc? The bp changes almost constantly. Try doing it at one of those drug store machines, and try it at different times of the day. some people only have elevated bp in the doc's office, and they are perfectly normal the rest of the time! I think that you are doing the right things as far as diet and exercise go, and you are definetely NOT overweight, so I assume that is not the problem.

: : As for the question about OTC cold medications, YES they can increase the blood pressure if they contain Psuedoephedrine hydrochloride, or one of the other nasal decongestants. I'm not sure how long the effect lasts though. If you are concerned, go back to the doc, and ask them if you can lie down for 10 minutes to relax before he takes a bp reading. Try to relax, and stay calm (I know that is difficult in a doctor's office).

: : I hope this help a little. Take care

: Hi Maria:
: I am sick with bronchitis and was told today to discontinue the use of cough syrup as it has pushed my blood pressure to a high level. I am wondering about Echinacea pills which I was also taking, does anyone know if it can raise blood pressure?
