: I have been on 50mg of atenolol for a while, Dr put me on 100mg because pressure was going up. Now with 100mg my pressure has been 189/119 158/96. With just 50mg in was running 156/92, so the Dr put me on lotensin today 20mg. I take a water in the morning and b/p at night any one have any advice?

Anything I say should not substitute for advice from your doctor. I dont know why your BP is getting higher and needs more aggressive treatment at this point in time. These really high BPs need to be gotten under control. I would suggest taking the medicine as the doctor prescribes it. Also such things as regular exercise, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables and whole grains and very little salt will also help control the BP.
