: : : When I was 15 I got pregnant. I was bed ridden for two months. Then I went in for my eight month check up and they told me to go straight to the hospital. After being in the hospital for three days they decided they were going to induce my labor. I was given medication to keep my blood pressure down during delivery, but it didn't help much. They almost lost my daughter and I. I was on blood pressure medication for a few months, but I was taking off of it because it was staying under control. My daughter's two now and I'm 18. I went to get my birth control pills about a month ago and my blood pressure was 160/104. She checked it a few more times and it was still high. Then, I went to the doctor a week ago and my blood pressure was 158/102. Then on Sat. I went to Wal-Mart and checked it and it was 173/102. After we ate I checked it again and it was 170/102. There are times when I get bad headaches, my ears turn real red and burn, I get dizzy, and just want to stay in bed. I'm scared to death. I have an appointment to see my doctor on the 21st. I'm so afraid I might have a stroke or something really bad might happen. There are times I don't know it's up. If anyone has any advice or can help I sure would appreciate it greatly. Jennifer
: : Anything I say should not substitute for advice from your doctor. The problem with most birth control pills is that they can cause high blood pressure. Sometimes just stopping the pill can lower the blood pressure. In any case seeing your doctor next week is probably a good idea. Your BP isnt high enough to be an emergency but more of a long term health problem. If you need to be on high blood pressure medicine there are many that your doctor can choose from.
