Just got back blood test results from my physical..Total cholesterol 273 LDL 155 HDL 63???? Ratio 4.1 ??? I am 33, 5'7", and weigh 185. Doc says I am somewhat protected by continuously high HDL numbers but that I am still at "high risk" because of my overall. I am not sure about triglicerides. After years of telling me I should loose 30 lbs and not, he recomends I go on Lipitor to combat the elevated levels.
After reading posts on this board, taking a statin drug particularly at my age worries me. I also like to drink socially on the weekends (up to 5-8 drinks on Friday or Saturday; sometimes both). I told this to my doctor and he flipped out and now thinks I'm a raging alcoholic. I only mentioned it in case of any adverse reactions with Lipitor....
Is Lipitor dangerous with alcohol? Would I have to abstain completely? I don't want to. I have never liked my doctor anyway. He won't even release the writen test results! I am thinking of having another test done and getting another opinion (and another doctor). Anyone with any knowledge on this....I need your help...What should i do??
