: : Can someone tell me what is the best cholesterol medication to take? I want to talk to my doctor about this and want some of your input so I know what works and what does not. Thank you.

: In addition to what Jane B. gave you, keep in mind that there is no one best cholesterol lowering drug despite what you might hear or see in ads sponsored by drug companies.

: We are all individuals, and what works best for one person with no adverse side effects, may not work for another person.

: Also keep in mind that certain cholesterol lowering drugs are known to lower cholesterol more than others. For example, if your cholesterol only needs to be lowered 10 to 15%, your doctor will not prescribe a drug that is known to lower cholesterol by as much as 35 to 40% in most people. Your doctor also takes into consideration your lifestyle, etc.

Thank you, Ken, for your input. I guess that's definitely something I have to think about. I don't want to take something that's most potent if that's not what I need. Thanks again.
