: : Your right, everyone is different. My friend is being switched to Pravachol from Lipitor, as she was like me, couldn't handle Lipitor? I'm doing a little better on Baycol 4mg, but Lipitor 10 mg. was H*ll for me. Even though the 4 mg is suppose to be equivalent to 10 of Lipitor. Must be some ingredient that don't like me. : I think each person's body reacts in a different way to these drugs. As for the difference between the good effectiveness between Zocor and Lipitor----10 mg. of Zocor took my cholesterol total to 185 and Lipitor at 10 mg. took it to 179. Both were totally doing their job, but one was trying to kill me off with side effects (ha) and that would be Lipitor. Zocor seems to not give me any or very slight side effect problems. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one also, but now I will know what is happening when I hurt alot. Incidentally, when I went off any drug and tried Niacin, my cholesterol went back up to where it had been previous to meds. So everyone has to try whatever and what works, go for it.

I agree with you on everyone being different. The Lipitor, 10mg. took me from 266 to 168 in 4 weeks, but side effects were awful. When I went off it rose to 285, so now they are trying me on Baycol. Only been on for almost 4 weeks, so no tests yet. Side effects seem to be much better, but we will see, as the Lipitor took 7 weeks before it started half killing me. Never was so miserable, weak, tired and just plain messed up in my life. Keeping my fingers crossed this Baycol does it's job w/little to no side effects and hubby does ok with the Zocor if he has to switch. Seems Lipitor is faster with results, but does have the worst side effects. Good luck.
