: I am a 49 year old male on Lipitor for the past 3 months. While it has done wonders for my numbers, I have experienced 2 strange side effects. The first side effect is that I have noticed many large and dark age spots (or brown blemishes) particularly bewteen the temporal hairline and the sides of my eyes. Also many on my forehead. They look hideous and make me look like I have aged 10 years. Also, I have noticed increased and unusually rapid hair loss and diffuse thinning. My numbers may look great, but my physcial appearance looks like crap now.

: Are these normal side effects of Lipitor? Thanks

Hello - sounds like a X Files show - does this give you the idea that maybe you should look into alternative cholesterol reduction methods? Even the thought of taking statins caused me to get of my ass and exercise 70 days out of 140, which means running 3.25 or more miles per time. I built up to it, now I look forward to running. I take E, C, B, soy, Folic, baby aspirin, fish oil, A, others, and my numbers were old/new - cholesterol 278/177, tri - 319/219, HDL - 51/55, LDL - 162/79 and that was 2 months ago. My next blood test will be in Dec. Read Bob Kowalski's book - "8 week cholesterol cure" - he is a leader in the field. Good luck - Jay
