: I have been on lipitor for the second time for a few months now. I have muscle pain in both knees, ankles hips, and even my elbows. Is this common? Does it get any better. Without lipitor my count is almost off the charts. Does the fatigue ever cease?
I have a history of high cholesterol(ranges 425-297). I've been on five different cholestorol drugs. Adverse results (mainly stomach pain)from
all. Lipitor was the latest. I started on 20 mg. Cholesterol level decrease was impressive, down from 342 to to 282 in 6 weeks; however
liver emzymes were up. Doctor increased dosage to 40 mg, smaller decrease in next 6 weeks, so he increased my dosage to 60 mg. I began
experiencing a weakness in my leg muscles - was disoriented - without the dizziness, stumbled into walls, tripped over my own feet. Was extremely tired, tingling in my finger tips, and awoke with numbness all the way up my arms. I cut the dosage of lipitor back to 40 mg. Symptoms with muscle weakness did not improve significantly. I was frightened of the leg muscle problems I continued to have. I discontinued lipitor after 3 months. That was in Feb. 2000. I continue to feel that my legs are filled with cement or something. Anyone else have these problems? Do any exercises restore the elasticity and ease of movement?
