I am in the same situation as the previous 22 year old w/ high cholesterol (260, and my bad cholesterol is very high as well).
In fact, when I was in middle school they first discovered it in me. They put me on a diet, but it didn't help.
I have told my doctor that it is genetic, but she isn't listening to me.
She is my mom's doctor as well, and nothing has helped my mom either...all that has happened was that she lost more weight than she could stand to lose.
I am under weight as well, and I already have a low-fat diet, so I'm worried that if they restrict my diet even more I will whittle away to nothing!!!
I do not have a history of heart disease in my family...in fact, I don't know of a single person on my mom's side of the family that had a heart attack, and only one on my dad's side, but he was very old.
HELP! My doctor wants to put me on medication, and I don't want to be on it if it isn't going to do anything.
