: : : : : Had my 6 mo. checkup after having a stent placed for 85% blockage. Thallium test was excellent. Have been on Pravachol and for last six weeks lipitor. Cholesterol 202 now 154 Triglycerides 294 now 144 HDL 34 now 38 LDL 109 now 87 LDL/HDl ratio 3.2 now 2.3. Lipitor has not always made me feel the best but seeing the numbers somehow makes it all worth it. I did low fat diet and moderate excercise along with the lipitor,

: : : : Were you on Pravochol first and why did they switch you to Lipitor, as 202 sounds like good numbers. My numbers were always about 212-218 and dr. had no concerns till it hit 266 in March. Lipitor brought it down to 168 but was brutal on my stomach. After taking me off Lipitor for 7 weeks, numbers went to 272 so they put me on the Baycol. Hope I'm not being nosy, I'm just confused why they switched you. Thanx in advance, and good luck again. JJ

: : : They switched me because my Triglycerides went up from 216 to 294 and my HDL droped from 39 to 34. The Pravachol was much harder on me than the Lipitor so I guess that is why I don't mind the lipitor as much. With Pravachol I cried all the time and hurt so bad I did't want to move. I was so tired I could not get up in the morning I kept dozing off for at least an hour after I first woke up. The crying has now just about gone . I wake up before the alarm but I still hurt some but not as bad as before. Thanks for your concern!!

: : Oh ok, that makes sense. I was a mess on the Lipitor, between stomach jitters, no appetite, lost 16 lbs. in 3 weeks. Also had the wanting to sleep constantly too, as I felt so weak. So far the Baycol is not as bad, but still have a lot of those rotten pains and aches. Boy I sure hope they find us something better to take than these drugs. Good luck, and yes, I feel for others who are going through this too. God Bless.

: I guess as you read all of this it boils down to the fact that what is good for one not always for another. Is it the statin drugs or just not finding the one that is right for your body. Having a doctor that listens is a help also and sometimes that is a problem and thats a whole nuther can of worms . Almost all the drugs we take have some kind of affect on our body some just greater than others.

Your so right. I have 3 friends on Lipitor and no effects for them. Just switched drs. as the other one just wouldn't listen at all. Seemed like a real pill pusher. Dr. I had for 32 yrs. was a sweetheart, too bad he had to retire. Hope this new one is a listener or I'll be searching again. Very frustrating lately. I'll keep ya posted.
