: I'm really scared guys....I'm 25 years old. Had my first physical in about 5 years. My doctor said my cholesterol is 250!!!! I've been doing lots of research since she and I chatted yesterday. Everything says I'm very high risk for heart problems.

: One minute I'm a carefree 25 year old, thinking about all that I want out of life and the next I'm wondering if I'm going to die. (no offense to anyone, i'm sure i'm overreacting. and i definately am not being discriminatory about any one being older than 25. i'm sure this is a valid health concern for anyone at any age)

: Anyway, I go back in for more extensive tests next week. My bilirubin levels were high too. Whatever that is. But, in the meantime, I need support, I'm really freaking out here.

: Oh, and just to let you guys know. I'm a vegetarian, I suppose I do have a high fat diet (I eat lots of dairy). But I'm not overweight for my height. Oh, and I'm a total couch potato. Do you think if I exercised and did other things that would put my cholesterol under 200 very soon?

: Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

: Angela

The estrogen your body produces does help to protect you from heart disease, but it is no absolute guarantee.

You are probably not going to die, but you do need to follow your doctor's instructions as to the best way to get at least your total cholesterol below 200 and to get your LDL and HDL in good shape.

Billrubin is a component of bile which is the digestive juice produced by the liver. Cholesterol is also produced by the liver. There may be some relationship there, but only your doctor can determine this through testing.

Vegetarians can have high cholesterol. You do not need to consume any animal cholesterol to
