: My latest lab results:

: Total Cholesterol-157
: LDL - 69
: HDL - 34
: Triglycerides - 299

: I am already taking Baychol .8

: My Doctor added Welchol and advised a stricter diet(minimum fat and protein).

: Is adding another drug really the right thing to do?

Your doctor is concerned by a slightly low HDL level (it should be at least 35 with a man) and your triglycerides level which is high.

I can't say if Welchol because I am not a doctor, and I am not familier with this drug.

Your doctor's advice about diet is a good one. You state it as minimum fat and protein, and perhaps your doctor has given you advice on maximums. This is especially true with saturated fat and food products that contain hydrogenated oils or fats such as trans fatty acids.

A regular exercise program may help to raise your HDL, but any exercise programs should first be cleared with your doctor.
