: : : what is berger's disease ???

: I am a 29 year old female and i was diagnosed with Berger's Disease when i was in 4th grade. I was told at the time that i would have a 50 - 50% chance of being on dialysis by the time that i was a senior in high school. well, things have been good and i am healthy so far, no medication or anything. Not all cases are doomed, i am a prime example, the only thing i am worried about is that i would like to have a baby and i would never want to pass this disease along.

Hi. I am 26 and was told today that I have Berger's. My nephrologist said there is little chance of my two children having inherited from me. From my previous medical records, he deduced I have had it for atleast 7 years, probably longer. I will not be taking any meds, either. I have been told to exercise regularly, though I don't know if this is because of the Berger's or Lupus (which I have tested postive for). Talk to your doc about childbearing. While my kids are fine, I have been told it would not be a good idea to have anymore due to the Berger's.
