Here is a late response:)

Actually, it is clotting and not blood thickening. the blood platelets stick together causing clots. treatment is usually a blood thinner like Coumadin, though in carastropic cases, chemo is used, but thore are the very rare birds.

its a pretty interesting disorder, and the newer testing methods have lead more and more people to be diagnosed. The disorder has been found to be a major cause of Stroke, Heart Attack , DVT and Miscarrage
