ask for a TRH test, thyroid releasing hormone.
It is done by injections. This test reveals underlying thyroid imbalances.
Then ASK to try the thyroid med.
If the doc says no, ask why not and ask to have it in writing. That may get results. If not, then get a copy of your labs and take them to another docter.
Thyroid should be diagnosed mainly based on symptoms...it is not rocket science.
You may have to be seen by an endocrinologist or internal medicine doc that specializes in thyroid.
