: what is berger's disease ???

Berger's disease is an autoimmune disorder which affects the kidney's by depositing the IgA antibody
in the linings of the kidney's "filters." This disease affects predomininately caucasian men, teens to thirties.
The more medical term for the disease is IgA Nephropathy.

The most common symptoms in the onset stage(40-50%) is acute pain in the lower back and dark red urine. This is commonly
follows an upper-respiratory infection.

The diagnosis for the disease varies in the stage of it. It can lead to severe
kidney damage and eventually failure leading to dialysis or kidney replacement.

I have the disease and experienced the common symptoms when I got it. I too
would appreciate more information. I most likely will be undergoing a
kidney biopsy soon, at age 21, and fear what the future holds.
