: My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with Merkel Cell Cancer. She recently underwent her third operation in five weeks. This time the operation has to have her lymph nodes removed. Two catheters were placed in her thigh to remove the drainage. She has been recently diagnosed with a "Diptheria Staph Infection." sp? I has hoping to research it on the web but can not find any good articals. Any advice?

Staph Infection usually refers to infection caused by "Staphylococcus" and you need to search for the above term. Ditheria usually refers to "Corynebacterium diptheriae", I doubted that diphtheria is the cause of the infection. Most likely, your mother-in-law's infection is caused by either Staphylococcus aureus or Staphylococcus epidermidis.
