: could someone explain how a culture test is done for vaginal infection? How long it takes to get a reply and how the infection is determined this way? Do they just take a sample and look into a microscope and it shows the type of infection or what? Ive had problems since my teens with itchiness and redness around my vaginal area with some discharge but every time I went for a pap the doc said everything seemed fine. I am really worried that I've had something for all these years and maybe with not being ill its just been there - I know I have discomfort and something is wrong but I'm scared because of embarrassment to find out what it is thinking the doctor might think I'm crazy living with this so long
Sounds like you might have vaginal candidiasis which is quite common and usually not serious in females. See you physician and ask whether you have vaginal candidiasis and, if so, be treated.
