I hope you are feeling better. I also have a
story about osteomylitis. I went in for surgery,
an ankle fusion, and ended up with an amputated left foot and leg halfway to the knee. After the fusion the Dr. put me in a cast and said it was a painful surgery and recovery and recuperation was a slow painful ordeal.
Well, I knew something was wrong because after 3-4 weeks the pain simply was indescribable and I kept telling DR. He kept saying "medicate and elevate". It finally got to the point where I cut the cast off myself!! When I did that, my foot was a grayish color and pus was pouring out of 4 "tunnels" that were 3-4 inches deep! His remark "I sure blew that call, didn't I?" The best advice I can give you is to pursue your doctor and all options open to you. You must treat your illness aggressively. Do not let the doctor "push" you around because you know your body better than anybody and doctors make mistakes everday. Good luck. Please write back and let me know how you are doing. Stay strong! My family will keep you in our prayers!!
