Question concerning art insemination

I have been taking Chlomid for about 5 months now and my periods still arent 100% normal. Today my specialist told me that if I dont start by tues then I will come in and he also wants to talk to me about artificial insemination. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some general info on this. Is it painful because I am now scared of pain since I had a bad experience with the dye in my tubes. Is it expensive (I am insured). And if anyone can give me percents of the success of this procedure I'd really appreciate it! Thanks! :o)
